Carrots need no introduction; however, just for the sake of clarity or humor – so that we are on the same page, do you know the orange-colored plants/roots with leafy-green tops that are cherished by rabbits? They are carrots, and that is what we are referring to in this article.
In recent years, it has been reported – albeit the veracity of most reports has not been confirmed – that various persons who were previously diagnosed with one type of cancer or another were cured of their tumors. These patients were reported to have bounced back from their ailment without exposure to chemotherapy, but by simply introducing a cancer-fighting food into their daily diets. One of such reports was in 2013 about Ann Cameron who got cured of lungs cancer after consistently drinking an average 5 pounds of carrot juice every day for more than twelve months.

The major reason why carrot juice can be used as an anti-carcinogenic agent is due to the fact that the carrot plant is packed with antioxidants, which gives the plant its cancer-fighting capabilities.
Carrots Nutritional Benefits & Facts
Scientifically referred to as “Daucus carota sativa,” carrots are perennial edible roots that are indigenous to tropical countries. Carrots are rich sources of carotenes including vitamins, alpha, and beta-carotene as well as important antioxidants as previously stated. The alpha-carotene has been found to be helpful in the treatment of cancer as well as in its prevention. Due to the presence of these carotenes, carrots are rich sources of vitamin A – the beta-carotene is required for the formation of vitamin A – which makes them highly recommended for people with visual problems.
The plant is also a good source of vitamins C, D, E, K, and B vitamins in addition to minerals such as calcium, molybdenum, phosphorus, iron, and manganese.
It has been known that the daily consumption of carrot juice can help overweight and obese persons in shedding off the extra weight due to its cholesterol-reducing properties. Other benefits of this highly nutritious drink include its use for skin rejuvenation and beautification, in the treatment of digestive problems like constipation, for boosting the immune system, and so on.

When to consume the carrot juice
It is recommended that you consume the carrot juice immediately (not more than 20 minutes)after preparation. This is due to the fact that leaving the juice exposed after juicing will make it start losing its potency due to oxidization. If you prefer to consume the carrot juice later or for some reason cannot be able to take it immediately after preparation, then it is advised that you hermetically cover the juice and put in the refrigerator.
You can add other fruits with the carrot to make a nourishing fruit juice blend. Fruits that can be added to carrot include apples, bananas, and other fruits that have cancer-fighting capabilities.
How to take Carrot juice for cancer prevention & Treatment
For the prevention of cancer, it is recommended that you use only raw carrots in preparing the juice, but then, there is no harm in throwing in other fruits and vegetables like garlic, celery, apples, onion, etc, which are also beneficial in the prevention of the multifarious disease. Consuming three cups daily helps to inhibit the growth of tumors in cancer patients while drinking more than three cups assist in reducing the size of the tumors.
For the purpose of cancer treatment, you can bring some kale, parsley, spinach, broccoli, etc, to make a carrot juice cocktail which is also healthy and great in fighting cancer. Drink a minimum of five cups daily if you want to get rid of the tumors. You’ll have to do this for months in order to reap the benefits. Like in the story of Ann which was shared in the introduction, you may not see any improvements until after several months or even years. CONSISTENCY IS KEY.
You should ensure that you go for CT (Computed Tomography) scans to ascertain the improvement – how the tumors are shrinking or disappearing –in order to choose whether to continue with the treatment or not.
Risks and adverse side effects of consuming carrot juice
Like we’ll always say, everything should be done in moderation. The consumption of carrot juice offers innumerable health benefits when taken appropriately. For one, it is highly advised that carrot juice should not be the primary meal in your diet. This is because of the fact that carrots do not have enough dietary fiber; thus, over consumption can lead to constipation or other digestive system problems.
Also, it has been found that excess consumption of carrot juice can lead to jaundice due to the high concentration of beta-carotene in carrots.
Carrots are rich sources of vitamin A; hence, there is a risk of vitamin A intoxication. Apart from these, an over-reliance on carrot juice can lead to an addiction or craving while disengagement from the craving can lead to insomnia or anxiety.

It is important to state here, however, that the use of carrot juice for the treatment of cancer should be done after due consultation with a medical doctor.
